Kolkata: Around 10 patients at a private nursing home in New Town were allegedly forced out of the healthcare facility after a group of men allegedly stormed the premises early on Wednesday, threatened staff and assaulted nurses on night duty, triggering a dispute between the nursing home owner and the landlord. The incident allegedly took place between 2.30 am and 5.30 am. Nursing home owner Probir Mukherjee alleged that armed men deputed by the property landlord Sanjit Biswas terrorised staff, assaulted nurses and ransacked the facility to force them to vacate the premises. He also alleged that emergency patients were driven out and cops failed to respond to calls for help.Biswas denied the allegations and accused Mukherjee of fabricating the incident. Biswas claimed the nursing home had been operating without a licence since July 1, 2025, and owed over Rs 9 crore in rent.Police said they received a 100-dial call and complaints from both sides. A probe is underway, but no formal FIR has been registered in the absence of a written complaint.
