Kolkata: Belaghata MLA Kunal Ghosh, a Mamata Banerjee loyalist, met state transport minister Arjun Singh at his office at New Secretariat on Wednesday.While Ghosh said he had a talk with Singh about a bus route in Beleghata, an official said he discussed Kaustav Bagchi, who had been in controversy over his recent comments against some party members.Ghosh said he had a talk with Singh about a proposal to introduce a bus route in his constituency as many Beleghata residents complained that there was no bus from Phoolbagan to Howrah station via Beleghata Sales Tax Building. “I met Singh as the Beleghata MLA with a specific request. Residents requested me for a bus route connecting Phoolbagan, Sales Tax Building and Howrah. Singh has promised a route with two new electric buses,” he said.But the timing and length of the meeting led to speculation. A few days ago, Ghosh criticised Bagchi and said he should not compare himself with Singh, who had a strong political background. “Everyone should abide by what the party president says. There should be action against those involved in anti-party activities. The party should look into allegations against cases like the ones involving MLAs. No one is bigger than the party and nobody should take things for granted. It will not take more than 24 hours to take action,” Singh later said.
